It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Looks like winter has finally arrived! With a light sprinkling of snow and temperatures starting to drop, it is time to get your winter running gear out.

At this time of the year, many people either take a break from running or spend more time on the treadmill. I find it easier to get outside for a quick run. There is nothing more beautiful then running through various neighbourhoods after a light dusting of snow in the evening when everyone has their Christmas lights on. I find myself so distracted by the decorations that I don’t even notice how many kilometers I’ve run.

If you have time this month, I’d recommend running around two of the major parks we have in Kitchener-Waterloo and checking out the light shows that they currently have going on.

Waterloo

Wonders of Winter

Waterloo Park – Wonders of Winter.
The lights will be on now until December 31 from 5:30pm – 10:30pm.

Kitchener

Victoria Park – Christmas Fantasy.
The lights will be on now until December 31 from 5:30pm – 10:30pm.

Congratulations to the Santa Pursuit contest winners – Daniel and Jennifer!

For Daniel the Santa Pur-suit will be his first Run Waterloo race! What motivates him to continue training on a regular basis? “The feeling you get from running a personal best”. Let’s hope his first Run Waterloo race can give him a new pb!

What I love about living in Waterloo Region… all of the festivals. I also love living so close to both downtown and uptown, that I can leave the car at home and walk to the events.

The people. I would have quit running long ago if there weren’t so many awesome runners to hang out with. We run different routes, some quite long, and i know they watch out for me. One day i underdressed and a friend gave me one of her shirts that she was wearing!

I love the sports community in KW! We have such a rich, active community and support for athletics and recreation for all levels of “athlete”. I’m lucky enough to treat a few of them!
