ENDURrun starts this week: four ways to get involved

Runners rejoice! ENDURrun starts this week. There are many ways to take it in, as spectators are welcome to any event all week long. Here are the top four opportunities that are friendly to a 9-5 workweek.

Watch from the best shoes in the house

8:30am, Sunday August 7
Tomorrow is Stage 1, a half marathon. Our Summer Trail Tour is doing a trail run on the Walter Bean Trail at RIM Park (Grey Silo) in Waterloo. It’s a 6 kilometre run, moving at approximately 5-5:30/km, with an ENDURrun water station at the 3 kilometre mark. On this run, you will witness the ENDURrunners from the greatest perspective, along the very same trail. This trail is one of the great running spots in the region. Join us!

Participate as a Guest

6:00pm, Wednesday August 10
Not all ENDURrun participants are running 160 KM over the week. Between the Relay, Sport and Guest divisions, there are hundreds of other competitors with a wide range of goals. There are still a limited number of Guest registrations available (Guest runners participate in just one stage). Stage 4 is one of the best to run – it’s a 10 mile run from Camp Heidelberg on Wilmot Line just before sunset, with the best post-race food you will ever find.

Volunteer

7:30am, Saturday August 13
Volunteering is a whole different and rewarding perspective. We are still looking for volunteers for Stage 6, a Saturday morning 10 KM time trial. If you can lend a hand, please let us know!

Spectate

9:30am, Sunday August 14
After an exhausting week, come out to Conestogo on Sunday morning to watch the marathon finish. There are many great spectating opportunities along the course, which starts at 6:00am. The height of the drama starts around 9:30am at Conestogo Community Park, as runners will be finishing their week. It is quite an experience to be there.

Here is a primer we wrote in 2014 about the history of this unique event. Everything else you could hope to know about this year’s event, including maps and directions, can be found in this info booklet [PDF].
