“Winning the Boston Marathon allowed Wesley Korir to escape Kenya. His people pulled him back.”

Transcend is a documentary that follows a year in the life of Wesley Korir. It’s a captivating look into the struggles and motivations of his dual life as an elite marathoner and Kenyan MP.

Although the film won’t be released until September 2014, pre-order the film online now, you receive a bunch of bonus features! If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, this is the best three minutes you’ll spend today:

This film has a local connection: Korir’s wife and co-founder of the Kenyan Kids Foundation Canada, Tarah Korir, is born and raised near St. Clements. Some of the film’s scenes are shot on the rural roads of Wellesley Township, where Wesley trains while at his home-away-from-home.

In the meantime, we’re working on bringing a screening to Waterloo. Stay tuned!
