New 2015 Oktoberfest Course

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE OKTOBERFEST RUN

We have just been notified that due to labour unrest within the School Board, we will be locked out of Westvale Public School on Sunday despite our contract. As a result, we will not have an indoor facility prior to the run, and with the cold weather forecast, we advise that you pick up your race kit in advance (Friday from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. or Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Conestoga Mall, Centre Court) to avoid long line ups on Sunday. Also on Sunday, please dress warmly and bring a bag to put your warm up clothes in, which we will transport back to the finish line for you.

We apologize for this great inconvenience, but the lateness of this cancellation notification is both irresponsible and beyond our control.

A Great New Course

As you already know, the Waterloo Classic and Oktoberfest Run will both have new courses in 2015.

Screen Shot 2015-09-30 at 3.22.32 PMWell, we have exciting news to announce – the new Oktoberfest Run courses are final and approved!

The new start is at Westvale PS in Waterloo, and the finish is at Waterloo Park. Interactive Gmaps for both races: 5k & 10k

This route won’t have the great start venue at Conestoga Mall, the iconic tour down King Street in Waterloo or the inside finish at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. However, this course will avoid construction, finish in Uptown Waterloo and provide some smooth downhill along another major route: University Avenue.

The even better news is – the 5km course is even faster than in previous years!

And it’s not even close. Check out this elevation map for the 2014 and 2015 5k courses:

If our previous course was fast, then this course is almost too fast. We look forward to runners throwing down some PB-level times this October!
