It was a morning of running, reflection and respect at Riverside Park in Cambridge, as we hosted our 17th Annual Remember Run. Together we enjoyed a beautiful live performance of O Canada before observing a moment of silence, as a tribute to the sacrifices made by Canadian members of service, both past and present. We were honoured to have Trenton Rodger, a traditional piper with the Paris Port Dover Pipes and Drums Band and new auxiliary officer with the Brantford Police Service, playing the bagpipes as our race started, as well as service members of the Preston Legion handing out the medals to the finishers after the race, to make our Remember Run experience unforgettable.
As the bagpipes filled the cool fall air, our runners energetically hit the scenic Riverside trails for the 5k and 1.1k races. We know our photographers love capturing you in front of the colourful background of fall leaves in the park, as well as our finish corral filled with Canada flags. Over 1,400 photos have been posted and hundreds more are on the way.
Check out the race results here, where we recorded some very fast finishes:
We’re glad to see lots of runners sporting the medals and long sleeve technical shirts for this race, featuring a striking red poppy design. Speaking of poppies, we would like to thank our participants for contributing pledges, as together we raised over $5k for the Preston Legion Poppy Fund. As always, we appreciate the generosity of the running community, as well as the shared commitment to keeping the memory alive this Remembrance Day.
Don’t forget to check out our website, where you can find more information about RW membership and our upcoming racing calendar. We’re down to the last race of the year, and it’s one you definitely don’t want to miss! Ho ho hope to see you out next weekend at this festive favourite, the Santa Pur-suit. See you soon!
