We’re excited to launch registration to all 18 Run Waterloo races in 2017! Here’s what you need to know:
What’s new this year
Run Waterloo membership – a great new way to support the community AND save on races.
Free to members is Run Pure & Simple: three great no-frills events to complement your running calendar. Entries are also available to the public for $10, as we strive to make running events more accessible to the community.
Highlights of the 2017 running calendar
June 18: The 40th Waterloo 10 KM Classic. Stay tuned for details to come.
Battle of Waterloo V comprises our two feature events: Waterloo 10 KM Classic and Fall 5 KM Classic. For the first time, we are introducing prize money. More on BOW V.
August 13-30: 15th ENDURrun
October 7: The second Run Pure & Simple event, Riverside Roughly Five, is a trail race in Cambridge.
How to search for an event
The menu above “Find a Run” lets you easily sort by series. If you’re looking to register for multiple events at the same time, use this RaceRoster page.
No more Multi-Race Discount or Family Discount
We’ve retired these long-standing discounts in favour of the membership program, which rewards loyalty with simplicity and flexibility. Now, members save a flat 25% on all events (including previously ineligible ones like Pancake Mile and Battle of Waterloo), regardless of when you sign up, how many you enter, or how many family members run with you. For planners who like to book well in advance, we have also introduced tiered pricing to over 90% of our events, so now you can save $5 on any event by registering early, which is approximately 10% or more of the regular price. One last point: this 25% member discount is also stackable with group discounts, which is yet another way to save (round up your office, team, or friends!)
Prioritize online entries
With the tiered pricing mentioned above, runners can save $5 by registering early, and pay $5 more by registering in the final days before the event. This year, we are only ever accepting cash entries at this highest price to put a price on the manual transcribing and processing.
Why do we do this? We have introduced measures over the years to discourage cash entries because they are a significant burden to a lean nonprofit organization like Run Waterloo. Not only does transcribing paper entries take our focus away from our members, community partners, events and running initiatives, but the processing fees are an important way for RaceRoster to continue to innovate and support small race organizations like ours. It’s a win-win-win, except that we are suggesting that our runners sign up online and pay this processing fee.
Despite these reasons, we recognize the preferences of some customers and we will continue to make paper forms available. Expect to see our brochure in your mailbox this winter.
That’s it for now. We hope you find the 2017 Run Waterloo calendar meets your needs and keeps you running in Waterloo!
