A fabulous Fall 5k Classic

What a day! What was better: the weather, the smiles, the pizza, the people, the band, or the 5,000m of fun?

Whether it was your first race (!), your first race this year (!), or you’ve been lacing up all throughout the various protocols (!), we hope you had a great day soaking up the amazing atmosphere. It’s you – the participants, families, and friends – along with the amazing sponsors and incredible volunteers that make a race into a fun and friendly environment. Run Waterloo never takes for granted the opportunity to spend a beautiful morning with our running community, and the 2022 Fall Classic was a perfect example of why we love what we do. We have missed this so much over the past two years!

There were some pretty speedy times out there today, despite having moved to a more “balanced” course compared to the 2019 edition of this race. Dominika Jamnicky defended her 2019 title, and Jeremy Coughler ran the second fastest 5k time in Run Waterloo history. We heard from numerous runners who achieved personal bests today as well. Downhill courses are fun, but net-zero loops are awesome too. Congratulations to everyone! Full results:

Huge thanks to all of the organizations that make this work: the groups of volunteers (Laurel Creek, Young Athletics, REACT); the single largest group of runners (Health + Performance); as well as Dearborn Health and all of the sponsors on site (Domino’s Pizza, Waterloo Brewing, My Next KW Home, Saucony Canada, and Runners’ Choice Waterloo)!
