Is Your Refrigerator Running? Ours Is!

What better way to kick off our 2025 running series than with this frosty favourite, our 27th annual Re-Fridgee-Eighter Run. At full capacity with 500 participants, runners of all ages braved the early February chill to join us on the course, which included our historic 8 mile, 5k, and both 1.88k and 200m fun runs. The atmosphere was lively and festive, with lots of runners greeting each other for the first time in the new year, while others came out in full force with their running groups and support squads. How about that energy at the start line, and the cheers at the finish line! The roads may have been mucky and the weather may have been cold, but the running community was all fired up for this event.

One of the reasons why this race was highly anticipated was due to our fun Running Refrigerator brand, new for this year, as many runners were excited to get their mitts on this creative and interactive medal, complete with opening and closing fridge door. Possibly our most popular design of all time. A cool highlight for any medal collection!

Also well received for this run was our Facebook giveaway, where we threw it way back to 1999 with two vintage Re-Fridgee-Eighter shirts for our lucky winner. Congrats to Jennifer Abbinett, lucky winner who happens to be a RW Member!

Speaking of congrats… all finishers can enjoy a hard-earned super bowl Sunday, especially these winners!

Some spicy times out there considering the conditions!

Huge thanks to the sponsors who ran today (Runners’ Choice Waterloo and Polocorp) or delivered the goods today (Domino’s Pizza and M&T Printing) or supported us from behind the scenes (My Next KW Home Group, ASICS, Schmidt Law Group). We can’t do this without you!
