There are many benefits to Run Waterloo membership, but this race might just top the list. Who doesn’t love a free race with an element of mystery? This morning we hosted our Member Relay, which RW members run for free. We’re thrilled to provide this perk to our members, whose support helps us do so much of what we do for the community.
We love the hint of surprise involved with this one, as we just tell you who your other relay teammates are the day before the race. It’s a fun and exciting twist that really gets people talking and strategizing.
Named after some of our favourite running trails around the region, the 16 teams we formed with our 62 member runners hit the Health Valley trail in St. Jacobs for a cool, mostly shady leg that ended in a high five handoff between members. As a part of our Run Pure + Simple series, this race is high on the adrenaline, and low on the frills. No shirts or food, just fast, friendly fun with a bold statement finisher medal. Check out the results here. Congrats to the Wilson Worms for wriggling into top spot!
If you missed out on this one but are interested in joining in the fun in the future, check out our website for more details on RW membership, photo galleries from this race and others (sneak peek coming later today!) and for our exciting upcoming racing calendar. Thanks to our marvelous members for relay-ing today, and see you next time!
More to come, but here are the first few hundred photos from a beautiful day in Woolwich:
