At Run Waterloo, we respond to the needs of the running community. One thing we hear a lot is about the cost of running events, and across all of our events we are always sticky with our prices and doing everything we can to innovate our model, keep prices low, and of course, keep our value high.
We launched a series of events called Run Pure + Simple in 2017 with three great events at no frills pricing. This program lasted three years to great success until all of our events were shut down for two years. It took us a while to get set up again, but we hear loud and clear – we’re back in 2024 with a full calendar of these events!
- Certified, sanctioned, chip timed 5k on April 7.
- Certified, sanctioned, chip timed mile on July 3.
- Not certified*, sanctioned, chip timed 5k on rough trails on October 19. (*The distance is a parody of poorly measured races, on trails so difficult that it is impossible to set a PB).
But there’s more!
These events are FREE to Run Waterloo Members. There are tons of benefits to the RW Membership, including discounts on our biggest races, exclusive competitions and free swag, results profiles, and so much more. But the quickest way to earn your membership fee back is through these events. How?
First, membership gets access to an exclusive fourth event, free to members.
- Certified, sanctioned, chip timed, randomly-assigned 4 person relay at 2.5 km each on April 27.
And while Run Pure + Simple is a no frills style without finisher medals, we have custom medals for this event as a member perk.
Second, consider that an adult membership is $50. Right there, you’re getting four races for less than $13 each, not to mention the other savings and swag. But if you’re a youth, senior, or student, your membership is only $25. $25 for all of that is almost too inexpensive because it doesn’t communicate the value of the events. But that’s our commitment to offering the most affordable races possible that are standalone great events! If your child can run 5k, this is four events for a total of 14.1k and only $25 for 2024.
