Aidan Kelly unlocks the 40 Time Finisher Achievement

We first introduced Aidan Kelly on our blog in a post way back in 2015, when he had just finished his measly 34th Waterloo 10 KM Classic.

Since then:

  • We got inspired to find, digitize, and release all historical results for four decades
  • Next, we created a Membership program with profiles that show such incredible feats as Aidan Kelly!
  • Then, we launched a whole series of Member Achievements to recognize a variety of running accomplishments.

For our most storied race, the Waterloo 10 KM Classic, we launched a tiered Achievement based on the number of completions. Dating back to 1978, now in its 45th year, the theoretical maximum would have been 44, and Aidan has the maximum of 40. Will we need to create a higher tier in the future?

At the time we launched the Achievements, Aidan had completed the race 35 times. Maybe you could say it was inevitable that it would be reached, but it’s still incredible to see it now live on a member profile. We had reservations about including results for the four virtual races we held during the pandemic, but here we are!

The question, “how many times have you participated?” is as easy one for Aidan (40), and also easy if you’re new (0!), but either way, it’s actually the subject of a free entry contest right now from our friends at My Next KW Home Group. Four free entries have already been given out and four more remain up for grabs. Check it out today!
