Saturday, April 20, 2013 is the ENDURrace 8km, the first race since the 2013 Boston Marathon. We will take one minute’s silence before the race to stand in solidarity with the victims, the city of Boston, and the sport as a whole. The start time of the race will move from 6:00pm to 6:01pm.
There is a popular movement online encouraging runners to wear blue and yellow in training and at upcoming races. Normally we encourage runners to wear the official race t-shirt, but this week we have no particular attachment to the lime green. We support and encourage individual expressions of the #RunForBoston movement.
Running is a sport, a lifestyle, and a community. The words of Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon, resonate particularly well this week: “If you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon.” Runners everywhere are Running For Boston, such as London this Sunday. That is why we will take the moment of silence this Saturday.
