2012 Oktoberfest Run

Thanks to all of the participants and volunteers of the 16th Annual Oktoberfest Run!

Slippery start

Recap: The weather, 1,600 runners on King Street, and the sauerkraut at the finish all helped the race live up to its billing: A Fall Classic.  It started out wet and windy, but after a good soaking, the weather dried up before race start.

Thanks to your support, the event raised $8,000 for the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation!

We continued with our efforts this year of live-tweeting the events.  Thanks so much everyone for all the positive online feedback!  Here are a few of our “favourites”:

You can join the conversation @RunWaterloo.  Our hashtag for this race was #OktoberfestRun.

Results: The 5km event was won by Adam Hortian (15:32) and Catherine Sukkau (20:44).  First place in the 10km event went to Paul Kemp (35:26) and Jenn Willoughby (41:28).  You can find the full results here.

Photos: A staple of RunWaterloo races: thousands of free race pictures, from RunWaterloo and Shoot The Thrill Photography, are available at our Picasa site.  Enjoy!

Next Race: the 4th Annual REMEMBERrun, Saturday November 3rd.  It’s a race to remember, and all funds raised go to support the local Poppy Fund.  See you there!
