When it’s maple syrup season, a great day for a run is a great day at the Pancake Mile!
Fun times were had as runners took the challenge of 4 quarter-mile laps, with one pancake per lap. It’s not only about how fast you run, you’ve got to be able to scarf down the pancake and run on an increasingly full stomach, too. And no, this is not an April Fool’s joke!
Runners enjoyed the first outdoor running of this event, and even saw some sunshine in the later heats.
Winners today were Gabriel Ghiglione (6:30) and Alexandra McGowan (8:22). Gabriel set an all-time Pancake Mile record, besting Adam Dixon’s 2015 time by 11 seconds. Gabriel is no stranger to food-related running events, having won the 2016 Highway to McDonald’s Challenge in Kingston.
A thousand free photos are posted to Flickr page for you to enjoy!
We hope all runners and spectators enjoy the rest of the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival this afternoon, on until 4pm!
