cone5togo recap!

It was a beautiful, if brisk, morning in the Township of Woolwich for a quick and painful 5k. The first cone5togo is in the books!

A little wet snow didn’t stop us before and it was a fun way to get back to spring racing. The first of 500 photos have been uploaded to our Flickr account; check back soon for more!

Whether this was a first race, or a first race in years, or this is once-again becoming part of an active lifestyle, there was plenty of room on the road for everyone. The first runner to cross the finish line was Lexi Black in the 2k!

The future is bright for London Western Track & Field club member Heath McAllister who was actually a mere 4 seconds short of taking down the Men’s Canadian U20 5km Road record, which was set by Kieran Lumb in 1998! But the race was won by Jeremy Coughler, who ran the 5th fastest 5k in Run Waterloo history at 14:30.

We were thrilled to see local superstars the Winterbourne Warriors (Ian Schmidt and Erin Schmidt) take first place in the parent-child division!

There was lots of local support and spectating from the Village of Conestogo, including our great hosts at the Conestoga Golf Club. We will see you again in 2023.

Thank you for coming out, putting one foot in front of the other, and helping us test our new timing system. We were happy to launch this new equipment with reusable chips at a small and intimate event, and we think it went pretty well!

And don’t forget our corporate partners, without whom we continue to make great strides for an active community. It was great having Runners’ Choice Waterloo on site and Steed & Evans on the course. Thank you to all!
