The Waterloo 10 KM Classic is a little more than two months away and we’re here today to launch the extra medal for the Big Dipper and Little Dipper.
As we encourage you to reach for the stars, we are bringing flickering starlight to this medal by adding blinking lights to the stars.
Picturing both constellations (Ursa Major and Ursa Minor) and the inspirational message “reach for the stars” this is our first-ever battery-powered medal. There is an on/off switch on the back.
What is this? Every participant in all events (10k, 5k, 3k, 200m) receives a 2025 finisher medal (design still to be released) but participants who complete the 5k (Saturday June 14, 6pm) AND either of the Sunday, June 15 events: 10k (15k, Big Dipper) or 3k (8k, Little Dipper) receive this extra medal.
How do I earn this? Finish either the 5+3 or 5+10 at the 48th Waterloo 10 KM Classic in June. Register now. A cap for these combos hasn’t been set; it will be announced in May, 2025.
How does it work? At the finish line of the 5k, every participant receives the official 2025 finisher medal. At the finish line of your Sunday race (10k or 3k), while all other participants receive the 2025 finisher medal, your distinctive Dipper bib will instead get you this medal that you earned!
