This abbreviated version of Monthly Running News is inspired by a great picture we received today!
Eliud Kipchoge set a new world record of 2:01:39 in front of 44,000 runners at the 2018 Berlin Marathon this weekend, taking over a minute off the previous record which was set on the same course four years ago.
Following this incredible performance, there were strong races by many of the Canadians in the field:
- Rachel Cliff finished 11th overall in her debut marathon, running the 4th fastest Canadian marathon ever, 2:28:53 – which is also the fastest debut by a Canadian woman;
- Lindsay Tessier set a new Canadian masters record, 2:30:47;
- Brent Lakatos won the wheelchair division, 1:29:41;
- Run Waterloo members: Sean Delanghe ran a new PB of 2:45:39 and Gillian Willard finished in 3:22:02. Did we miss other members??
Thanks Dr Sean for sending us this great addition to our Race Shirts on Location album! Germany is now crossed off the list!
