Recap
After opening the 2016 season with two spring-like winter races, we are now experiencing winter in April! Despite strong winds and a hint of blowing snow, a determined group still showed up for the first race of the Economical ENDURrace series to run 5 KM on Saturday evening in Elmira. Overall results were dominated by local club Health + Performance, whose members took 2/3 top places in both the men’s and women’s fields, as well as setting a new open team record. The Thalmic Labs team had a strong showing in the corporate division.
Next Saturday we return to finish the series with an 8 KM over an extended version of the course – same time, same location; hopefully warmer conditions!
This year there is prize money attached to the ENDURrace series: top three overall and first masters combined finishers (male and female) will receive cash prizes. Based on current registration, top candidates are as follows:
* Overall Male: Jonathan Gascho, Jordan Schmidt, Greg Dyce
* Masters Male: Derek Atkins
* Overall Female: Lumi Duca, Emily Dodge, Kaitlyn Wells
* Masters Female: Tracey Kuchma
But … there is still time to register for the 8 KM if you haven’t already! Online registration is open until Wednesday, and our registration team will be at the race next Saturday as well to collect last minute entries. Whether you want to run just 8 KM, or if you ran the 5 KM and want to enter the combined event, we hope to see you next Saturday!
