We were back in Downtown Kitchener on Sunday morning for the first event of our new Adventure Guide presents Run Pure & Simple series: the Downtown Kitchener Mile!
This series is designed to get people outdoors and active, without breaking the bank. The terrain for the first event is downtown streets and alleys, and the two loops were contested over three heats, running from slow to fast.
Huge thanks to Adventure Guide and the City of Kitchener for making this event happen!
Aidan Rutherford established a dominant early lead over the field, and was the only finisher under 5 minutes (4:57). Similarly, Emily Dodge was the only woman to take on the sub-6 minute heat. Her 5:51 finish time secured her the overall win.
More from Run Pure + Simple, presented by Adventure Guide
There are two more events in this series in the fall. At the $10 price point, it’s a great reason to get outdoors and have some fun. This was the only road race; we have a trail race in October and a paved path race in November.
Did we mention that Run Waterloo members run these for free?
