What an exciting start today to our spring racing season, as we kicked it off in style with the endurRACE series. We were lucky that the snow stayed away and spring was in the air, seeing some long awaited milder temperatures and did the sun ever come out as the day went on.
The first 500 photos have been posted, many more to come!
Runners enjoy this race as they can customize their distance, opting for either the 5k, 8k, or challenging themselves to compete back to back with the 5+8k doubleheader, no easy feat. A run for everyone! Including the kids, who brought the energy to a lively 400m fun run. We also saw so many spectators cheering on their friends and family in spectacular fashion. We love to see the support!
Today was our first time staging a course at the Westmount Sports Field, which provided scenic views of Columbia Lake and the Laurel Trail. Special thanks to the City of Waterloo for providing the parking and venue for today! We are fortunate to enjoy such a rich natural backdrop in our running community.
The post-race experience is so important to us at Run Waterloo, as we are dedicated to ensuring that every participant’s acheivement is celebrated. The live band (shoutout to Mojo Minefield!) and BBQ provided a fun and welcoming atmosphere for runners, families, and volunteers to socialize, take photos, compare times, and unwind after a satisfying run of any distance.
Whether your goal was fun, fitness, competition, or a combination of the three, we saw a lot of personal goals reached today. 5k results, 8k results, doubleheader combined results.
Please check out our racing calendar (“Find a run“) as we have a ton of fun events coming up, with fundraising partnerships including the KW Humane Society and the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo Wellington. Also, the Waterloo Classic is on track to be our biggest field yet, so join us for this historic event and register today.
Thanks for supporting our events and helping our running community thrive. Way to go the distance! Thousands of photos and video from the trail and sky to come. As the weather warms up and the spring racing season hits its stride, there’s so much to look forward to. See you at the start line!
