We have a number of updates for our annual Runway event on August 31.
This event has been growing steadily over the years, which allows us to innovate the race. In 2023 we launched the first 5 Miler and that’s back in 2024 along with a few more first time additions to the race:
1. Finisher Medals
Every participant in every event will receive this fantastic finisher medal, a first for The Runway! This design is also on t-shirts (for purchase) and stickers (first-come at kit pickup).
2. Categories
To this point, this race has published demographic information in results but has never awarded categories. With growth we now have numbers to support our full set of 10 year categories:
3. Date
We updated our website and notified all participants last month when the airport schedule changed and we had to move the event to it’s date of Saturday, August 31. This is the first year in the 10 year history of the event that the date has been changed. You will be happy to know that we offered every participant a full refund including all fees, because that was the only right thing to do, and despite 39 people not being able to make the new date and being removed from the participant count, we are still on record pace for participation in 2024!
4. Kids’ 200m Fun Run
With the Saturday date, we have just a little bit of extra runway time available and that is all we need to do a Kids’ 200m Fun Run. First time for that too! This is $10 and includes a medal!
5. Future Runners
This isn’t exclusive to The Runway, but we want to continue to get the word out. In June 2024 we launched stroller bibs so that we can identify strollers and ensure that stroller occupants are insured through Athletics Ontario. This is free and encouraged if you want to use a stroller!
